Deaf Events > Hearing Events
If you have a choice between going to a regular event (maybe one that isn't interpreted) vs a Deaf event. Which one would you choose?
If it's interpreted, then that would be a harder decision. BUT I'd rather spend time with my Deafies than random hearing people.
On that note, there are so many events coming up, it's insane. Yes, it's concert season AND festival season, so that's probably why.
The ones I hope to go to are the Boulder Taco Fest and Pricilla Shirer's Going Beyond conference. I literally can't wait for the Forrest Frank concert on July 20th. Next week! We got a suite with an ASL interpreter! How dope is that!?
In the Deaf world, we have a lot happening in Colorado for Deaf Awareness Month. You ready?
September 11th - Minigolfing with Colorado Community Church's Deaf/HoH group
September 12th - 5th annual Deaf Awareness Night with the Colorado Rapids at 7:30
September 18 - 20th - Kissfist Mural Fest in the NoBo Arts District
September 19th - Colorado Springs Christian Church Family Day in Woodland Park
September 26th - Bake it with Sass virtual ASL baking class - Samoas Brownies! These have been a hit at home, so I know they will be a hit at yours!
Hope to see you at one or more of these amazing events! Might try to schedule a YouTube Baking Party in September, but no promises!
Do you know why we celebrate Deaf Awareness Month? As you may know already, many people overlook the Deaf community. Maybe because they don't know we exist. Maybe because they don't care. Or maybe because they believe in misconceptions about our community without ever getting to know us. We take pride in our community and I hope you find joy in learning about ASL and our culture.
There is still space in our Build Your Own Cheesecake Jar workshop on August 1st! Sign up below!
