It's a Great Day to be Deaf!

I wish you all could have been at the Forrest Frank concert on Monday night in Denver! I couldn't have asked for a better night with better people. When we arrived, we were told to go to a suite instead of a seat. We knew it was going to be a suite, but we were not expecting a SUITE! Meaning center view, no obstructions, two ASL interpreters, free food, water and a room full of Deafies looking forward to seeing Forest Frank live! I had no idea this is what SUITE meant! Now I'm not going to hesitate to ask for an ASL interpreter at any concert I want to go to. Hopefully, other venues treat us like this!

When you grow up getting information last or feeling left out of everything, that night moved me to tears. I was glad I got to experience my second-ever concert (I know...) with great friends and an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Forest Frank, for an amazing concert!

What was great about this (and maybe other artists do this too) was that he engaged with the audience especially the kids. He let one of the kids sing a part of one of the songs. Not sure if they already knew ahead of time or what, but it was amazing to see the entire arena cheering them on! I could have easily stayed all night and I am not a night owl anymore. My college days are OVER! LOL

There are still tickets left! We are meeting at The Table Public House in Denver Colorado on August 1st for our next in person ASL "baking" workshop! Hope to see you there! Feel free to respond to this email with any questions!

Give me Cheesecake!

For those of you interested, I am teaching another adult ASL class from September 22 - Oct 27th. Tuesday nights from 6 - 7 pm at Colorado Community Church. Sign up link will be available soon! If you're interested in learning ASL, this is your sign! (no pun intended...kidding I meant that).

Another video in the series, Things I Wish Hearing People Would Stop Saying/Doing!

This one is about facing us when speaking. If you don't sign, wait for us to look at you before you start your story. What pisses me off the most, is when hearing people expect me to hear them when my back is turned toward them then get irritated when I don't respond. They have accused me of ignoring them or being stupid. Stop it! Hearing aids and cochlear implants don't help us hear everything! Give us some grace. Please and thank you!

Glad people are engaging with these videos! If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
