In short, Juneteenth is celebrated because when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln and the slaves were set free...they ALL weren't set free. Those in Texas remained slaves for three more years before someone came to tell them they were free.
It really sucks that the slaves in Texas lost three years of precious freedom to greed. But as we all know, greed still runs this country. I can only pray we can stop ourselves from becoming what ruins so many lives in the past and current.
